Dear Everyone
As you will know from the information Martin Vink kindly sent out earlier in the week (copied below) Sutton Valence Hill will be closed for roadworks after 8.0pm on both the following rehearsal dates:
Monday 27 October (when we will be holding our AGM at 7.0pm followed by our rehearsal at 7.30) and
Monday 3 November (when we will be holding a joint rehearsal with Bearsted Choral Society starting at 7.30pm).
Bryan and the Committee have decided that, on balance (for the time being at least) we should proceed with both rehearsals as planned, rather than trying to find an alternative venue.
The closure will obviously affect everyone coming by car so I hope the following information and instructions will help:
- You will be able to drive into the School as normal because the closure does not start until 8.0pm.
- After 8pm no through traffic will be permitted along the roads which are closed (see map).
- The closure will restrict our ability to drive out of the car park after rehearsal. According to KCC Highways Department access to and from properties within the closed section of road (which includes the School) will be maintained but could be delayed.
- Bryan will be happy to finish 10 minutes earlier than usual, to help with longer journey times.
- We have sent a message to the construction team via KCC warning them that cars will need to exit from the School at about 9.30pm on each of the evenings in question.
- Share cars where at all possible to minimise the number of cars leaving the car park.
- Do not delay leaving the car park after rehearsal. That way we will all leave together and exit arrangements will only need to be provided once.
- Follow instructions given by the on-site team. On driving out of the school it is possible you will be directed to go in the opposite direction to the one you wish to take. You will then have to follow one of the alternative routes suggested on the map.
- Be patient and drive carefully on the way home. Your route home may well have to be circuitous (the map indicates which roads will be closed and suggested alternative routes).

Sutton Valence Hill is to be closed for resurfacing between 20:00 and 05:00 from 22 October to 4 November 2025. More details are avilable on the link to the SV Parish Council website below. In the map the red areas will be shut and the suggested diversion routes are shown in blue. There will be no access through Sutton Valence village.
