A message from Bryan:

Sutton Valence Choral Society is following the government guidelines regarding its rehearsals, concerts and other events.  We are, therefore, very disappointed to announce that until further notice all our events are postponed or cancelled.

We have a concern for all our members, and do hope they will be in contact with each other during this difficult time, bringing news and concerns to each other, particularly through friendships, voice reps or committee members.

We were saddened at having to cancel our concert on Sunday 29th March at All Saints Maidstone.  Apart from the G major Mass by Schubert and the C major Mass by Beethoven, we were looking forward to performing Cecilia McDowall’s Ave Maris Stella in the presence of the composer.  Alexandra Stevenson, the soprano soloist in the first performance of this work 18 years ago, was due to be with us to take on the solo role; and she was due to be joined by Tabitha Reynolds, Michael Jamieson-Smith and James Clements for the Mass settings.

If we are unable to rehearse during the summer term in order to prepare for a concert on Saturday 4th July, we very much hope to be returning in full force by Monday 7th September, in order to rehearse for an amazing concert on St Cecilia’s Day, Sunday 22nd November, for Charpentier’s Te Deum, Scarlatti and Handel’s settings of Dixit Dominus and Handel’s fantastic Zadok the Priest.
