Our Conductor​

Bryan Gipps will be retiring on 15 November 2025, after more than 20 years with the choir.

 

We are delighted to announce that Anthony Osborne has been appointed as our new Music Director and will be taking over from Bryan Gipps following our Mendelssohn's Elijah concert in the Benenden Centenary Hall on 15 November 2025.

Bryan Gipps

​​Bryan has been our conductor since 2003.

​

Bryan was a School Director of Music for 18 years before becoming the freelance musician he is today. He is also conductor of the Old Barn Orchestra (the orchestra for Medway & Maidstone) and Director of Music at St Mary's Church, Ashford.  He is the Artistic Director of the Egerton Music Festival and sings in the Rochester Cathedral Choir.

As well as supporting local hosteleries and following architectural and bibliographic interests Bryan's spare time is dedicated to music.

Anthony Osborne​

​

Anthony is a highly accomplished, versatile and passionate singer and choral conductor. He has been singing in choirs since he was 9 years old. He was a choral scholar at Wells Cathedral, won a scholarship to the RNCM to study singing and conducting and spent 7 years training in opera. After graduation, he went on to become a member of the Glyndebourne chorus where he performed regularly for 16 years and sang numerous operatic roles. 

 

Having left Glyndebourne, Anthony now runs his own specialist piano business and has also resumed his other passions in music, including conducting. In 2024 he was appointed Music Director of Crowborough Choral Society. 

 

Anthony has been a church organist for the last 27 years and is currently Director of Music at Christ the King Eastbourne.
